Representatives of 66 countries will take part in the international Quranic event, according to Youm7.com website.
Adil Muslihi, an official with the organizing committee, said that every year the competition is named after a prominent Egyptian qari.
This year’s contest has been named after late Quran reciter Master Mustafa Esmail, he noted.
Muslihi highlighted the role of the contest in promoting religious and cultural tourism in Egypt, and especially in the port city, and said that as part of the sidelines programs, the foreign delegations will visit the city’s tourism attractions.
